Anastasia comes from an ancient tribe of Siberian people she calls the "Vedrus". Entrepreneur Vladimir Megre met Anastasia in the Siberian taiga in 1995. She so inspired him with everything she said he immediately started to write about her, even though he had no idea how to write a book!

By 1996 Megre was standing on street corners selling his first book, "Anastasia".

From this first small print-run, very soon, Megre was selling thousands and then millions of copies within Russia. Megre continued to write. There are now 10 books in the series, known as the "Ringing Cedars" series. The most accurate translation in English is by John Woodsworth with editor Leonid Sharashkin.
